American Riviera Bank was proud to participate in the City of Santa Barbara’s Sunflowers on State art exhibit, which included towering sunflower sculptures, created by local student artists, adorning State Street. In all, six sunflowers dot State Street’s downtown core, including one designed by Santa Barbara Junior High students, and sponsored by American Riviera Bank, at the corner of State and Carrillo.
The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 3rd in conjunction with First Thursday and the new Vincent Van Gogh exhibition, Through Vincent’s Eyes, at Santa Barbara Museum of Art. There may have even been a van Gogh sighting at the ARB/SBJH sunflower!
American Riviera Bank staff, including President and CEO, Jeff DeVine, gathered to celebrate the efforts of Santa Barbara Junior High’s artistic students. Mr. DeVine shared, “We embraced the opportunity to be a sponsor of this exhibit and participate in a project that encourages students to engage in art while supporting art education in our community’s schools.” Other ARB team members who admired the sunflower sculpture included: Lori Murray, Christine Grace, Kim Gibas, Rechelle Ringer, Alex Torres, Rogelio Aguilar, Debby Deneault, Jason Kaufman, Matt Limon, and Scott Moll.
In addition to Santa Barbara Junior High, students from Goleta Valley Junior High, La Colina Junior High, Santa Barbara High School/VADA, San Marcos High School, and Dos Pueblos High School also participated. The six sunflowers are on display until May 22, 2022 and are located along State Street at Victoria, between Victoria and Anapamu, Anapamu, Figueroa, Carrillo, and between Carrillo and Canon Perdido streets.
