American Riviera Bank (ARB) is proud to announce that Matthew Limon, Assistant Vice President and Client Relationship Manager at the downtown Santa Barbara branch, has been named the third recipient of the Bank’s esteemed Larry Koppelman Honorary Award. The award, named after ARB’s founding board chair, recognizes employees who best embody the Bank’s enduring spirit of service and commitment to the community.
Matthew Limon, who joined ARB in 2017 with over two decades of banking experience, is a critical member of the Bank’s flagship branch in downtown Santa Barbara. Matthew is known throughout ARB for his inspirational leadership, thoughtful approach, and unwavering readiness to rise to any challenge. He was a steady force during the COVID-19 pandemic and periods of staffing shortages, ensuring the branch continued to thrive. His upbeat attitude and supportive presence have made him well-liked by both clients and colleagues, embodying the welcoming spirit of the downtown Santa Barbara branch.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Matthew is deeply devoted to community service. He donates over 200 hours annually to coaching youth football—a commitment he has upheld for 16 years with the Santa Barbara Youth Football League’s Saints team. Coaching out of genuine care for the positive development of local youth, Matthew has become a trusted mentor to many Santa Barbara families. This dedication makes him an exceptional recipient of the Larry Koppelman Honorary Award. As part of this recognition, Matthew will receive a $2,000 personal award and will direct a $1,000 donation to the nonprofit of his choice, the Santa Barbara Youth Football League.
Matthew was presented the award by Larry Koppelman on June 11th, surrounded by his peers. “Receiving this recognition is profoundly meaningful for me,” said Matthew Limon. “I am so grateful for the support, guidance, and collaboration of my colleagues and mentors at American Riviera Bank.”
This year’s award is especially meaningful to American Riviera Bank, as it coincides with founding director and board chair, Larry Koppelman’s transition to a Chair Emeritus role after 20 years of dedicated leadership. Larry was instrumental in shaping American Riviera Bank from its inception into the trusted community partner it is today. He is respected throughout our Santa Barbara community for his keen business mind, unwavering reliability, and supportive nature. Larry’s legacy of service will continue to inspire the ARB team as they honor exceptional employees like Matthew Limon, who reflect the same commitment to excellence and community engagement.
“Larry’s vision, integrity, and steadfast leadership have defined American Riviera Bank from the very beginning,” said Jeff DeVine, President and CEO of American Riviera Bank. “His devotion to our clients, employees, and community has set a standard that inspires us every day. We are profoundly grateful for his guidance and the lasting impact he has made on our organization.”
